Jaunliepaja Canal Bank Development Plan Open for Public Review

We are proud to announce the development of the Jaunliepaja canal bank local plan, which aims to open the currently closed canal area to the public and promote balanced residential and public development. This plan is open for public consultation from July 29 to September 6, inviting residents and institutions to provide their feedback.

Key Points of the Plan:

  • Area: 10.77 hectares in Jaunliepaja, between the Tram Bridge, Old Cemetery, and bordered by Kaiju, Jelgavas, and Aldaru streets.
  • Objective: Create a diverse and sustainable public space, development, and landscaping.
  • Historical Street Structure Restoration: Plan to reopen connections to the canal bank and provide access to the planned pedestrian promenade from Tram Bridge, Aldaru Street, Kronu Street, Kapsētas Street, and Jelgavas Street.
  • Mixed-Use Development: Includes apartment buildings, office spaces, retail and service establishments, as well as tourism, leisure, sports, and cultural facilities.

How to Participate:

  • Public Consultation Meetings: August 21 on-site and August 28 online (via Zoom).
  • Registration: epakalpojumi.liepaja.lv.
  • Feedback Submission: Until September 6 via the geolatvija.lv portal or in person at the Liepaja City Construction Board.
