Likewise, Draft of the Aizkraukle Region Environment Report and Draft of the Nature Park Daugava Valley Nature Protection Plan 2014-2026 has been presented for public consultation.Aizkraukle Region Territory Plan is produced concurrently with Nature Park Daugava Valley Nature Protection Plan by integrating thereof into the regional territorial plan. This enables setting of uniform development directions and strategy in the planning documents.“Such a target of concurrent production and integration of the nature protection plan and territorial plan is a relatively new approach in Latvia, and it is oriented to simplified territory development planning in local self-governments. Unfortunately, an opinion can be encountered in practice that the protected territories are “prohibited” or “void” territories taken away from the life and development of the region. It should not be like that, so it is particularly important within the scope of this project to find equilibrium of Nature Park Daugava Valley nature protection goals and the regional economic development interests,” explains Mrs.Ilze Circene, METRUM Planning Projects Manager. To review the documents presented for public consultation, please, click http://www.METRUM.lv/lv/projekti/teritoriju-attistibas-planosana/?id=260
