Geological cartography differs from traditional terrain cartography due to specificity of reproduced objects, their aim and displacement on the land. Geological map reproduces particularity of the object - mountains, rocks, land gathers, cracks and energy resources (oil, coal, natural gas), and minerals (gold, copper, iron, construction materials and other).
Maps are essential basis for engineering works, mineralogy, land crust researches, structure interpretation. Data for mapping is obtained by geological surveys with different methods - traditional surveying, boring, distance investigation. Metrum uses its aircraft with laser scanner and camera for aerial photography.
